Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

In accordance with the reporting guidelines established by the Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education, with respect to Section 18004 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students, First Class Cosmetology School submits the following information:

  1. First Class Cosmetology School acknowledges it has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and ensures our intent to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid grants to students.

  2. First Class Cosmetology School will receive a total of $148,000.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

  3. First Class Cosmetology School made available and has distributed the amount of $54,000 to students as of June 25, 2020 under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act. In total, the amount to be distributed to students is $74,000.00.

  4. The estimated total number of students eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 is 55.  They are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act.

  5. To date, the total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to Students under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act is 45. 

  6. The method used by our institution to determine which students received the Emergency Financial Aid Grants was: The funds were distributed  under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act according to the following parameters:

    • Any student that completed hours and was considered currently attending and any student enrolled, but unable to begin their respective program as a result of COVID-19 between the date the school facilities were closed and the date First Class Cosmetology School received the Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students funds.

    • FAFSA Dependent students received/ will receive: $500

    • FAFSA Independent student will received/ will receive: $1000

    • Students who participated in and earned credit for assignments during our distance learning/ online training received/ will receive: $500

  7. First Class Cosmetology School informed students about the Emergency Financial Aid Grants, created and distributed a survey, and provided guidance regarding the funds in which they received.

 

First Class Cosmetology School students who have questions regarding the Emergency Financial Aid Grant should contact the Director for determinations on the student’s eligibility and details on how to claim their grant funds.
